Peter Ellis

My name is Peter. As I start to write this, I am 59 years old. I had a massive, dense and complex stroke on 26th March 2018. I had retired six months earlier from a career in health and social care, first as a nurse, then operations manager within the NHS, and subsequently as Chief Executive of a children’s hospice, with a particular interest in the way communities can become involved in supporting families; and was looking forward to a new adventure, restoring our quirky Georgian house in Norfolk. It has been a devastating and life changing experience. I feel I have been robbed. Will my life ever be the same again?

Why a blog and website? I plan to continue to share my experiences and journey to recovery, providing reflections along the way. This journalling will benefit me I am sure, but I also hope that it will be interesting and informative for others going through a similar experience, or even those within the health and care professions.
